Compress Video for Email, Free & Private

Most mailboxes cap a message near 25 MB, and a phone video is often far larger. This tool shrinks your clip toward a safe size for an attachment, in your browser and without an upload.

How to compress a video for email

  1. 01Click "Choose a video" and select the clip.
  2. 02Click "Compress for Email" and wait while your browser encodes it.
  3. 03Download the MP4 and attach it to your message.

Why the target is 18 MB and not 25 MB

Email turns attachments into text before sending, which adds roughly a third to their size. A file of 18 MB can therefore reach about 24 MB inside the message, just under a 25 MB limit. A file that is already under 18 MB is returned unchanged. The exact limit depends on your provider, so check it if the message matters.

If the video is still too big

Long videos rarely fit in an email at good quality. Trim the clip with Trim Video, or send a link to the full file instead and attach a short preview. For a general-purpose shrink with a quality level of your choice, use the video compressor.

Why edit video in your browser?

  • Your file never leaves your device. No uploads, no privacy risk.
  • No account, no watermark, and no daily usage limit.
  • Works on desktop and mobile browsers. Nothing to install.
  • Completely free, powered by open-source WebAssembly video tools.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the email attachment limit?

It depends on the provider. Gmail allows about 25 MB per message, and many other services use a similar figure. Confirm yours before sending something important.

Does the video keep its sound?

Yes. The sound is kept at a lower bitrate to save space.

Is my video uploaded to VimCut?

No. It is compressed on your device. The mail service only sees the file when you send it.
